Rajasthan Royals bowler Yuzvendra Chahal scripted history in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday when he became the leading wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League with 184 scalps.
Chahal leapfrogged former Chennai Super Kings player Dwayne Bravo (183) when he dismissed KKR skipper Nitish Rana off the 2nd delivery of the 11th over. He also added to his tally when he sent back Venkatesh Iyer for 57 and picked up Shardul Thakur’s wicket in the 17th over.

“I never imagined I’d get here when I entered the IPL with MI. I’m here because of all my family and friends’ support. Definitely grateful to all,” Chahal said in the mid-innings break.
“On this ground, I didn’t want easy boundaries. Wanted to keep the ball away from the batters. The pitch was slow and helped me. I hope we win today. The batters should be able to score,” Chahal said in the mid-inning break,” he added.
On Sunday, Chahal became the joint-highest wicket-taker during the side’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Chahal, on Sunday night, finished with an impressive spell of 4/29 in four overs at an economy of 7.20. He achieved the feat with SRH skipper Aiden Markaram’s wicket.
Meanwhile, other bowlers with the most wickets to their credit in the Indian Premier League are Piyush Chawla (174 wickets), Amit Mishra (172 wickets), and Ravichandran Ashwin (171 wickets).

Kiwi speedster Trent Boult returned to replace left-arm speedster Kuldip Yadav, while KM Asif was brought in for Murugan Ashwin in two changes for RR.
KKR opted for a three-pronged spin attack including left-arm spinner Anukul Roy instead of seamer Vaibhav Arora. KKR has three front-line spinners in Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Suyash Sharma, while skipper Nitish Rana is also a part-time off-spinner.
