Want To Create Our Bench Strength": Rohit Sharma On India's Squad Rotation

Rohit Sharma during his interview with Star Sports recently touched upon a lot of crucial points before the Asia Cup as well as the upcoming mega T20 World cup, starting from 16th October this year. But folks to remind you, last year the same team was in shambles and got eliminated during the group stage matches after getting defeated by the arch rivals Pakistan, and New Zealand.

This time things are a little different for the Indian team as the team now are laser focused knowing the upcoming events and are doing a lot of experiments such as in their squads, injury, workload management and keeping a lot of strong options on their bench as paramount and many more, on which Rohit said,

We play lot of cricket, so there will be injuries and workload management, so we have to rotate players,

Speaking on the strong bench, Rohit added,

But it gives our bench strength to go and play the game, which is why we could try so many other guys who are ready to take that international stage and perform. We want to create our bench strength; we want to make sure that India’s future is in safe hands. That’s the planning that we are trying to have.

During his interview, Rohit also credited Rahul Dravid’s coming in as new head coach and being on the same page as he is to lead the team in the same direction without any confusion and more importantly bringing a change in the style of cricket, they play in all ascertain formats.

Literally all that what Rohit just tried to convey above explains it all as we can see in the recent few matches the team making a lot changes inside their teams, giving a lot of rest to its players and also handing over different captaincy to different players with the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant and others.

Asia Cup 2022 is starting from 27th August and will last till September 11th.
