The TNPL first match began with two teams clashing against each other which is the Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) vs Nellai Royal Kings (NRK). While the toss took place, CSG won the toss but decided to bowl first and giving the chance for the opponents to score runs for the chase.
Welcoming the decision, the NRK team scored a respectable target of 185 runs with the help of Sanjay Yadav and Suryaprakash who put up a partnership total of 133 runs and helping the team reach the desirable score. If you look at the individual scores of these two batsmen, you’ll find Suryakumar scoring 64 runs off 47 deliveries whereas his partner Sanjay Yadav scored 87 runs off 47 deliveries making an impact.
Now it was the CSG team to come out to bat and to chase the target of 186 runs made by NRK. The start from the two opening batsmen of the CSG was pretty decent. As opening partner, the two opening batsman who came out to batt were Kaushik Gandhi and N Jagdeesan who initially settling down on the pitch built a beautiful partnership of 89 runs. KM Gandhi as individual made notable 64 runs off 43 balls whereas N Jagdeesan scored 25 runs off 15 balls. But after this the wickets kept falling for the CSG team on a constant basis.
Understanding the situation, it was the two, R Sonu Yadav and S Harish Kumar who added a beautiful 34 and 26 runs innings from 23 and 12 balls respectively. The efforts from the players in the topline whereas the middle order did not go vain and resulted in tying up of the match.
Not it was the super over time which the NRK won it with ease letting the last year champions probably surprised.
At the post presentation ceremony, despite loss, Sanjay Yadav from CSG was declared the player of the match for his 87 run crucial innings for his team. With this win the NRK has gained 2 points whereas the CSG team remains at O points and yet to start.
NRK in their next match, will be clashing against the Salem Spartans. The match will be tomorrow i.e., June 24, 2022 held at the Tirunelveli Stadium.
