Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid tests positive for Covid-19, Unlikely to appear in Asia Cup-2022

Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested Covid-19 positive. The BCCI officially informed the news on Twitter on Monday. According to the BCCI officials, a routine test was conducted by the board’s medical unit ahead of the team’s departure to the UAE for Asia Cup 2022,in that Mr. Dravid found positive. He has mild symptoms and is still under the supervision of the medical team.

He (Head Coach) will join the team once he returns with a negative Covid-19 report, the BCCI said in a statement.

The rest of the team will assemble in UAE on 23rd August 2022, the BCCI added.

 The Asia Cup-2022 will be held in UAE and will start on August 27 and continue till September 11.A total six team- India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, and a qualifier team will be seen in the tournament.

The teams are divided into two groups A & B. India is placed in Group A with their fierce-rival Pakistan. A qualifier team also will be there in Group A. Whereas, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are placed in Group B. The group matches will be played in super four rounds and the final will finish in Dubai on September 11.

There will be three matches in Group A. Team India will start their campaign in the second match of the tournament as well as the first group match on August 28 against their ever arch-rival Pakistan in the first group match. India will face the qualifier team in the second group match and third group match will be played between Pakistan and qualifier team as per schedule on September 2.

Earlier, On August 8, the Senior Selection Committee had announced the 15 members India squad for the upcoming Asia Cup-2022.
