Sania Mirza bids adieu to Wimbledon with semi-final loss in mixed doubles

WTA’s top ranking as an Indian player for a decade Sania Mirza bids adieu to Wimbledon with a semi-final loss in mixed doubles. Following this, her wish to win seventh Grand Slam was dashed. She and her Croatian partner Mate Pavic were battling against American Desirae Krawczyk and British Neal Skupski couple.

Mirza and her partner Pavic seeded sixth, went down 6-4, 5-7, 4-6 to above defending champions. The battle between both champions couple went two hours 16 minutes on Wednesday night.

Mirza and Pavic both multiple time Grand Slam winners, dominated after entering into court. Both played brilliantly in the first set and scored 6-4. At the initial of the third to six games opponents started attacking with their rackets that Indian and Croatian tennis stars could not defend and lost the chance of the final. In the second set, Mirza and Pavic were leading with 4-2.

This is Mirza’s best mixed double performance at All England Club(AEC). She had previously reached to quarterfinals in 2011, 2013. She was Grand Slam Champion in 2015 at AEC.

The 35-year-old Mirza is India’s most accomplished woman tennis player, having won six Grand Slam titles, including mixed double trophies. She wished to full stop her career in mixed doubles with Grand Slam Win, but it could not be fulfilled.

The Indian woman tennis star has now bid adieu to Wimbledon having won a women’s doubles title in 2015 with Martina Hingis, a champion of great Swiss.
