Reply of Dinesh Karthik on KL Rahul and Washington S absence

IND VS BAN 1ST ODI: The Indian cricket group got off to a good start on the Bangladesh tour, dropping the primary ODI by just one wicket margin. India looked poised to win despite 186 runs low on the board, but wicketkeeper KL Rahul rejected even the Washington Sunder’s tempting alternative method. Earlier dropped a very important catch for Mehdi Hasan Millers when it looked like he did.
Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who reacted to the duo’s defensive error, was stunned. In his professional Cricbuzz chat, Dinesh Karthik admitted he didn’t understand why Sundar wasn’t trying to catch the ball.

“Obviously KL Rahul fell last and Sundar will not come. I am not aware of the reason for his absence. Not sure if it was right but if he saw the ball, he should have hit it. That’s the only question he can answer. Overall field play was 50-50. Not the best day, but not the worst either. I think in the end I pushed the limits as well.”

The incident enraged Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who had lost his cool on the ball after seeing Millers’ catch begging not once but twice in the final few overs. KL Rahul admitted at the post-match press conference that India missed his two chances to catch in the finish. “It’s just cricket. You must expect unexpected things. If cricket is played, things like that happen. They fought very well to the end, dropping several catches and an innings off Mehidi,” he said. The Indian group could try to straighten things out when it meets Bangladesh again at the second ODI on Wednesday.
