Lucknow Super Giants(LSG) captain KL Rahul as per reports, will not take part in the remaining part of the Indian Premier League(IPL) 2023. This happened due to the injury he sustained during the team’s loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, May 1.
Rahul appeared to pull his hamstring while chasing the ball in the alternate over of the first innings. Rahul gripped his leg and collapsed before the LSG medical staff arrived for their original assessment. The gatekeeper batsman didn’t take the field after halting his way to return with the help of the LSG medical staff.
Reports have stated that he’s set to miss LSG’s forthcoming home hassle against the Chennai Super Kings( CSK), with Krunal Pandya pushed to lead the side.
Still, his absence may not just be a one-off as he’s set to be taken to Mumbai for reviews soon after the BCCI medical team has taken over his case. Original signs suggest that KL Rahul is in a race against time to get fit for the World Test Championship(WTC) Final against Australia, taking place in England from June 7 onwards.

An elderly BCCI source privy to the development told PTI on conditions of obscurity. Attesting that no reviews have been taken to assess the extent of Rahul’s injury as yet, the source continued. ” KL is presently with the team in Lucknow. But he’s departing the camp on Thursday after watching the game against CSK on Wednesday. His reviews will be done in Mumbai at the BCCI-designated medical Facility.”
“BCCI will handle as well as Jaydev’s case will be handled by BCCI.” ” When someone sustains an injury like this, there’s considerable quantum of pain and swelling that’s there in and around the area. It takes around 24 to 48 hours to heal and only after that you can perform the check-up.”
Since he’s an important member of the Test team, it would only be prudent that he does not take any further part in IPL.
Once the reviews ascertain the degree of injury, the BCCI medical team will decide the course of action.” KL Rahul had a lukewarm IPL 2023 season, with 274 runs in 9 innings.
The 31- time-old backed to play in the middle order in the WTC Final given his credentials in England. He was also the favorite to wear gloves in Rishabh Pant’s absence.
