The former Indian cricket team allrounder, Ravindra Jadeja, has recently made some bold statements but if asked specifically about what, we would say about the finisher Dinesh Karthik. But before you jump into any kind of conclusion, let us tell you that while getting interviewed by Fancode, that was before the fifth and the final T20I match between West Indies and India.
Jadeja was asked about his top picks in terms of playing XI, but it seemed that Jadeja was more interested in having the bowlers with the likes of Mohammed Shami and along with him four other certain options as Jasprit, Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh but the former allrounder surprisingly did not choose Bhuvneshwar Kumar who is the highest wicket taker for India. He said,
I have added Shami to the team. So, for me, I select bowlers first. So Shami is a certainty. Bumrah, Arshdeep and Chahal. These are the four certainties. In batting, four are certainties for me – Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Deepak Hooda. For this bowling attack, you have powerplay, middle overs and death overs sorted. You can bowl them anywhere. Even for the batters, they are flexible,
Speaking of the approach the Indian team is having, according to his opinion, Virat Kohli would be dropped. See in his own words what he wants to say,
Now if you want to play the way I have heard them…aggressive then you have to pick differently. If Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma walks in, you need Dinesh Karthik at all cost. He is your insurance. But if you don’t have either of them then Dinesh Karthik has no work here. But yes I would not put Karthik there, he can have a seat beside me. He is very good as a commentator. But there, in the team, I would not pick him. Now the decision is whether you want to play Ravindra or Axar. If it’s Dhoni style, then add Kohli, Rohit and Karthik. But in modern-day cricket, you have to leave out Karthik. Maybe even Kohli depends on whether he is in form or not.
In modern day cricket you have to leave out Karthik is what Jadeja says. Now this is quite a statement reminding us about the crab mentality. To remind you all, Dinesh Karthik in his late 40s has been fighting like a warrior for his team and in several matches from IPL and this far, has played a crucial match winning role. We don’t understand the reason behind Jadeja speaking so, but one thing is sure, Dinesh Karthik has come up as a strong pillar for the Indian team especially in the middle order and is unshakable.
