Indian contingent for Paris 2024 Olympics meet PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed his unwavering belief that India’s participation in the Olympics will bring glory to the country and fulfill the hopes and dreams of the country’s 140 million citizens.

India is aiming to surpass its seven medals at the Tokyo Games by sending as many as 120 athletes to Paris, including Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal in the shot put event.

“I spoke with our athletes who are going to Paris for the Olympics. I am confident that our athletes will give their best and make India proud. Their life journey and their success gives hope to 140 million Indians, “Prime Minister posted on “X” after meeting many athletes who are going to Paris, including archers, who archers, field athletes and support staff.

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Sports Minister Raksha Khadse and Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha joined the delegation. The Prime Minister shared a picture of himself with athletes and support staff, including badminton coach Pullela Gopichand and senior official of shooting sports Pierre Beauchamp, among others.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister welcomed the Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, who won the T20 World Cup after defeating South Africa last week. The team reached Delhi early in the morning, after being delayed in Bridgetown, Barbados, due to a Category 4 hurricane.

Narendra Modi said he had an unforgettable conversation with the T20 World Cup team, during which they talked about their experiences at the recently organized ICC event in the United States and the Caribbean.

Narendra Modi also held virtual talks with Neeraj Chopra, who is looking to defend his title in Paris, boxer Nikhat Zareen and two-time Olympic medalist PV.
