India wins second ODI by 5 wickets against Zimbabwe, and seal the series with 2-0

  • Snaju Samson stars in the match, he bags the player of the match award for his unbeaten 43 off 39 balls

India won the second ODI against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Saturday. Following the win, team India sealed the three matches series by 2-0. The right-handed batter Sanju Samson (43 off 39 balls; not out) and all-rounder Deepak Hooda played an impressive knock, while the medium pacer Shardul Thakur (3/38 of 7 ov) helped India to cease the host team at 161 in the first inning of the match.

Making a change in Playing XI as including Shardul Thakur and rest to Deepak Chahar, the previous match hero, team India reunion at Harare on Saturday. India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Thakur made the Skipper KL Rahul’s decision right. He helped India to stop the underdogs’ team on a total score of 161.

Thakur picked up three wickets. Mohd Siraj, Prasidha Krishna, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Deepak Hooda also spelled a good bowling each one took one wicket. From the Zimbabwe side, Sean Williams (42 of 42 balls; 3 fours, 1 six) scored highest as he batted on six numbers. Opener Innocent Kaia (16 off 27 balls) and Ryan Burl (39 of 47 balls; 3 fours, 1 six) scored on the 7th number.

 India chased the winning target just in 25. 4 overs. But Zimbabwe’s bowlers did not succumb as in the previous match, they made five Indian batters back to the pavilion. While chasing the target, Opener Shikhar Dhawan (33 of 21 balls; 4 fours), KL Rahul (1 off 5 balls), Shubhman Gill (33 off 34 balls; 6 fours), Ishan Kishan (6 off 13 balls), Deepak Hooda (25 off 36 balls) Sanju Samson (43 off 39 balls; not out) scored in their respective batting order. Samson hit 4 sixes, and 3 fours in his inning.

Samson bagged the player of the match award. He played an impressive as well as fielding. During fielding in the first inning, Samson made an incredible leap as he grabbed a one-handed catch in a stunning look.
