After completing a 2-1 series win against Australia, dominating India is set to host three matches T20Is and later ODIs at home for South Africa. The T20Is are starting today at Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. This series will be India’s last T20 assignment before the T20 World Cup 2022 in which Rohit Sharma and Co. will put their best foot forward in the matches, and will also evaluate their preparation for the multi-national mega tournament in Australia. Team India head coach Rahul Dravid and the think tank will also test the strength of a few players in the series vs South Africa.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya and pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been rested for the series, while Mohammad Shami who was featured in the squad has been ruled out as he tested Covid-19 positive before India vs Australia T20Is. Deepak Hooda will not be available due to injury.
So, here is an assumption of India’s probable playing XI, and who will replace rested Hardik Pandya in the playing XI for today’s T20I:
According to BCCI’s recent update, The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umesh Yadav as Shami’s replacement, and Shreyas Iyer as a replacement for Hooda. Shahbaz Ahamed has been added to the squad (in the place of Hardik Pandya).
