Shai hope’s century and WI’s huge score went in vain

India’s Axar Patel bags man of the match awards for his storming batting and superb bowling

West Indies opener batter Shai Hope’s brilliant century (115 off 135 balls) and his team’s huge score (311/6 in 50 overs) went in vain as India won the second ODI by two wickets at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinad, Port of Spain on Sunday. The all-rounder Axar Patel (64 off 35 balls 3 fours, 5 sixes; 1/40 of 9 ov) played a pivotal role to continue India’s winning fire against The Caribbean. Patel bags the man of the match award and following his performance team India also sealed the three matches ODI series with 2-0.

West Indies won the toss and Sai Hope came to pitch as opener batter with Kyle Mayers from their team side. Both Caribbean batter played brilliantly and scored 65 in 9.1 overs partnership for first wicket. Mayers catch out by Deepak Hooda then Sharmarth Brooks came to bat with Hope as his batting order. He took their partnership for 127 score of 21.3 overs and given a catch in Indian Skipper Shikhar dhawan’s hand while playing a shot against Axar patel bowl. Then Caribbean team’s captain came for batting on 5th number and scored 74 off 77 balls, before him Brandon King had out on 0 score facing 5 balls . Hope completed his brilliant century and continues played till 48.5 overs. He totally scored 115 off 135 balls, 8 fours 3 sixes as he has given catch in Axar’s hand on Shardul Thakur bowl at 300 score of his team. Following the above champion batters performance WI raised huge scores 311/ 6 in 50 overs for India.

          While the chasing WI’s huge target, Indian team start was not good as Skipper and opener batter Shikhar Dhawan (13 off 31 balls) went pavilion on 48 scores of team in 11th over. Shubhman Gill (43 off 49 balls, 5 fours) performed a little bit good following his previous form in 1st match. Gill given catch on the Caribbean all-rounder Mayer’s bowl on 66 score of team.

In the order Shreyas Iyer (63 off 71 balls, 4 fours, 1 six) came to bat on third number and he handled the Inidian’s inning and he took his team at 178 score for 4th wicket in 32.6 ov. After this, all-rounder and middle-order batsman Axar Patel came at 7th number and turned the whole game with his stormy batting. He scored 64 runs in 35 balls with his superb five sixes and three fours. Patel put the ODI series in the Indian side by his storming performance and he bags man of the match award. Earlier, Deepak Hooda also supported the team and score 33 off 36 balls in his respective batting order.

Middle order batters turned India to win

It became a huge target when Indian begening was very poor as Opener Dhawan went pavilion on 48 score of team, then after gill given straight catch to Kyle Mayers against his bowl. Playing in pressure Shreyas Iyer handled team and took to 178 score. All the middle order batters except (8 off 9 balls) performed brilliantly and turned India to win. Sanju Samson (54 off 51 balls), Deepak Hooda (33 off 36 balls) and Axar Patel (64 off 35 balls) not out took to their team at victory point 312/8. Patel played pivotal role in above winning.
