IND vs SA 1st ODI: India loses first ODI by 9 runs against South Africa

India lost first ODI by 9 runs against South Africa at Ekana Sports Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday. Heinrich Klaasen (74* off 65 balls) and David Miller (75* off 63 balls) strengthened SA to post 249/4 in 40 overs while batting on their (5th& 6th number) respective order.

Klaasen and Miller handled their flattering inning after four wickets loss in just 22 overs. They scored 139-runs as a partnership and took Proteas to a respectful target in 40 overs match for both sides due to rain. For India, Shardul Thakur took two wickets in 8 overs, while Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav got one each. Bishnoi spent the most runs (69) from their side.

In response, team India could manage only 240/8 in 40 overs. While chasing, India lost four wickets early at just 51 scores. Wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson (86* off 63 balls) scored highest, but his valiant effort failed to took India to victory. Shreyas Iyer (50 off 37 balls) was the second highest scorer from India side, while Shardul Thakur (33 off 31 balls) added a good score through his bat. For SA, Lungi Ngidi (3/52 of 8 ov) took the most wickets, while fast bowler Kagiso Rabada got two wickets for 36 in 8 overs.
