ICC Website error pushbacks Team India to earlier position in test rankings

A technical error in the ICC test rankings has caused India to lose the top spot once again in the ICC test rankings. There was confusion in the cricket world over the ICC Test rankings on Wednesday.

The news of India becoming the number one’ test team came after the hosts defeated Australia in the first Test in Nagpur. But that was not the actual case. According to the Cricket Board’s official website, the Indian cricket team overtook Australia with 115 rating points, while Australia had 111. However, later in the evening, the ICC reconfirmed Australia to the number one spot with 126 points and India with 115 points.

After the organizers beat Australia in the first Test in Nagpur, they could have been the first Test team. But that was not the case. The ICC clarified that this was due to an error on the website, which was later corrected. “The ICC has acknowledged that due to a technical malfunction. India was incorrectly listed as the #1 test team on its website for a short period on 15 February 2023. We apologize for the inconvenience. Sorry.” He left a comment at the end of the post. Despite a heavy defeat in their first friendly against India, Australia scored 126 points. India has 115 points and is looking to win the Delhi test to improve their chances of beating Australia head-on. Indian fans are disappointed by the mistake.
