ICC FTP 2023-27: India to play a mind-boggling 138 bilaterals, will co-host 2026 T20 WC
  • ICC announced men’s ‘Future Tour Program cycle
  • No battle against Pakistan

The Blue Jersey men’s team will be playing a mind-boggling 138 bilateral international matches across each of the three formats during the ahead four-year Future Tour Program (FTP) cycle between May 2023 to April 2027. The ICC announced a detailed men’s FTP schedule on Wednesday.

Team India, one of the best of the 12 ICC full-member teams will play 38 test matches, 39 ODIs and 61 T20Is in the next FTP cycle. India will be also focusing on the shortest format as an indicator of how priorities across formats will be changing. The ODI will remain, but mostly be three-match series.

As expected, India will have to be an overloaded schedule for the above cycle, but here is important to write that they would not play any match or series against their arch-rival Pakistan. Experts assumed that there may be political reasons behind this schedule in which Pakistan is not placed with India.

According to ICC, “A total of 777 international matches- 173 Tests, 281 ODIs and 323 T20Is will be played among 12 member teams in the 2023-2027 FTP cycle compared to the 694 in the current.”

Earlier, a day ago, the ICC revealed the first-ever Women’s Future Tours Program (WFTP) for the next three years August 2022 to January 2025. There will be 10 teams including India women and the Blue Jersey women will be playing 2 Tests, 24ODIs and 36vT20Is.

Soon after the ICC’s announcement, The honorary secretary of BCCI Jay Shah tweeted, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all my colleagues at the CEC for the historic Women’s FTP.
