The ICC, also known as the International Cricket Council, has recently announced the two venues where the World Test Cup (WTC) finals of 2023 and 2025 will be played. Without further suspense, we would like to reveal those two venues as “The Oval” in London and “The Lords” for the WTC Finals in 2025.
On the occasion of such great news, ICC’s CEO Geoff Allardice said that he was pleased to announce two iconic venues for the next two cycles. He said,
We are delighted to be hosting next year’s ICC World Test Championship Final at The Oval which has such a rich legacy and an amazing atmosphere, which is ideal for such an important fixture on the calendar
CEO Geoff Allardice
He added further,
Following that we will then take the 2025 Final to Lord’s which will provide a fitting backdrop to the ultimate Test. Last year’s final between New Zealand and India in Southampton was an engrossing encounter and I am sure fans the world over would be looking forward to the next WTC final at The Oval. On behalf of the ICC, I would like to thank the England and Wales Cricket Board, Surrey County Cricket Club and Marylebone Cricket Club for their support.

In response to which the CEO’s of the Surrey County Cricket Club &Marylebone Cricket Club expressed their gratitude by thanking for being selected by the ICC. They said,
It’s a real honor that The Oval has been selected to host the final of the World Test Championship. To have the two best teams in the world playing here in south London will be a fantastic occasion. Next year promises to be a superb summer of cricket at The Oval and this match will be a brilliant part of it… said Steve Elworthy, the CEO of the Surrey County Cricket Club
Steve Elworthy,
Whereas the Chief Executive of Marylebone Cricket Club expressed their delightness by saying,
We are delighted that Lord’s will be hosting the ICC World Test Championship Final in 2025. It is fantastic news that the ICC has opted to host the next two finals in London, with both grounds providing fitting venues for the culmination of the championship.
Marylebone Cricket Club
Well, about the two teams, which will be playing into the finals except the one which is the Australian team, the second team isn’t yet confirmed, why? Because, after South Africa won their last test series against India, by 2-1, they bolstered their position up to the finals but were again whitewashed, when they tasted defeat from the England team. But despite that, they still sit at the second position at the ICC test ranking table, which is next to Australia.
What about India?
India’s chances depend on fate and their own efforts, because being at the fourth position of the ICC test ranking table with 52.08 points, they firstly have to win all the remaining six matches against 2 matches with Bangladesh and 4 against Australia. Secondly, and more importantly, speaking of fate earlier, they will also have to hope for the team Australia, Pakistan and South Africa to lose, because if they don’t, the road for the India team will look narrower than to pass through.
Let’s hope for the best!!
