The all-rounder cricketer ‘Harmanpreet Kaur’ appointed to lead 15-member Indian Women’s squad at Birmingham in Commonwealth Games-2022. The game will begin on July 28 and will continue till August 8. Whereas, Smriti Mandhana will perform her deputy’s role. This announcement was made by BCCI (Boar of Control for Cricket in India) Woman on Monday.

            It is the first time that Cricket is included in Commonwealth Games which will be great opportunity for Indian Cricketer (W) to show their stardom. The All India Woman Cricket Selection Committee (AIWCSC) announces, “Harmanpreet Kaur will be captain of Indian team for upcoming Commonwealth Games.” after a meeting on Monday.

            According to Selection Committee, These woman players are in the 15 member Indian Squad. Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana(VC), Shafali Verma, S. Meghna, Tania Sapna Bhatia (WK), Deepti Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Pooja Vastrakar, Meghna Singh, Renuka Thakur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana.

                The Cricket, one of most widely popular game has returned after 24 years in the above game. The last time in 1998 the cricket was part of the game. Only woman cricket teams will participate in Commonwealth Games at this time. The first match of tournament will be played between India vs Australia on July 29.

            Indian team has placed in Group A. The first match will be held on July 29 in Birmingham against Australia. The second group match fixed against the arch rival Pakistan then after Indian team will face Barbados in third match.

            Earlier, Kaur led from the front and bagged the player of the series award in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. She played brilliantly in her continue form.

Indian cricket fans expect from her that she will continue in her storming leading form and bring the Gold for country.
