"Apni Team Kharab Kar Rahe Hain": Former Pakistan Captain On India's Rotation Policy

Key Highlights

  • The former Pakistan cricketer, Rashid Latif, comments again on Team India
  • To much experimentation within Team India has left the former Pakistani cricketer unimpressed

The former Pakistani cricketer, Rashid Latif makes statement again on Team India, expressing concern and stating that Indian is spoiling its team with doing too much of experimentation,

“Apni team kharab kar rahe hai yeh” (They are spoiling their team)

He was seen making a statement while speaking on the YouTube channel “Caught behind”. Now why Rashid was left unimpressed, know the reason in his own words,

“You are playing Rishabh Pant in the top order, but he is dangerous players lower down the order. Anybody can play in the Powerplay. Nine out of top ten ranked batters are openers. Match hota hai neeche se (Game happens in lower middle order). If Shreyas Iyer is scoring 28 in the lower order, it is far better than going at the top and scoring 30 runs,”

As per Rashid the tactical changes made were too much in the Indian team. He also stated that the Indian team would have won the match against England by 3-0 instead of 2-1. And the primary reason behind the slight downfall, Rashid blames it on the over experimentation the captain and his selectors are doing.

Now why is so much experimentation going on?

So much of experimentation inside the Indian team is only due to the right combination that they are unable to find the right openers and that is only because seniors players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma aren’t performing the way they should and this can be a matter of worry for the selectors.

Rashid finally said that the experimentation taking place doesn’t work out that way. He also said when the base of the team is Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and if they are out of form then one should definitely look for another option but not in a way that if the second option fails, the blame is to be given to the senior player as first mentioned just  above.

After winning the 3-match T20I series against England, Team Indian is all set for their new assignment in the form of a 3-match ODI series from July 12, which will be an interesting one. The schedule will be as follows:

  • First England vs India ODI match – July 12th, The Ovals, London
  • Second England vs India ODI match – July 14th, Lords
  • Third  England vs India ODI match – 17th July, Old Trafford Stadium
