Getting to captain in your hometown, nothing bigger than this: Team India captain Rishabh Pant

Rishabh pant is the new captain of the Ind vs. SA T20 home series which going to be played from today. The match between the two team is going to be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium formerly known as Feroseshah Kotla Stadium.

This is the city from where Rishabh did start his cricketing journey. It was a rough journey for the player initially by having sleepless nights and many a times because of late night trainings and not getting busses sleeping a Gurudwara’s and so on.

But finally, the struggle has paid-off and not the same small player has become the captain of the Indian National Cricket Team. However, KL Rahul was assigned for the job and Rishabh as vice-captain but after KL Rahul faced injured in his right groin, he had to be ruled out and which eventually paved way for Rishabh Pant to become the new appointed captain of the team.

KL Rahul’s ruling out was hard to accept, what the player said but he continued to support his team from the side-lines. He said,

“Hard to accept but I begin another challenge today. Gutted not to be leading the side for the first time at home, but the boys have all my support from the side-lines. Heartfelt thanks to all for your support. Wishing Rishabh and the boys all the luck for the series. See you soon,”

Rahul was appointed as captain in place of Rohit Sharma but unfortunately had to wrap up shortly due to his groin injury.

Coming back to Rishabh Pant, he said having a big smile on his face,

“He haven’t digested it yet, and came to know an hour ago”

He further added,

“It is a very good feeling; it did not come under very good circumstances but at the same time I am feeling happy. I would like to thank the BCCI for giving me this opportunity to lead the Indian side. I will try to make the most out of it. Thank you to all my well-wishers for supporting me in my journey through the thick and thin of my cricketing career. I will look to make it a base and keep improving and keep making my life better and better each and every day,”

“I think as a captain, it will help me a lot (leading in the IPL) because when you are doing the same thing again and again, you improve. I am someone who keeps learning from his mistakes and I think it will help me in the coming days,”

Since past few months, Rishabh has been groomed as a captain and has relatively done well in the franchise, Delhi Capitals heading the team. But for the journey of him leading in the T20 world is a bit far away thing.
