Dinesh Karthik, despite having a bad patch in his career, finally managed to make a name for himself in the Indian national team. The 37-year-old, who has been given the opportunity after a blistering knock of 330 runs in 16 innings and a strike rate of 183.33, which indeed seems very impressive.
Dinesh, who has been selected to be a part of the playing XI against the Proteas T20I home series held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, will most likely need to ensure that he contributes well as only then will the road ahead of him be clearly visible especially for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in Australia later this year.
Indeed, it was a different side of Dinesh we saw playing for the RCB’s. But for the performance he showcased in the TATA IPL 2022, he was given the name of “Finisher”, such a good performance he had!!
His playing stint in the IPL was not that impressive with the KKR team in the last 3 years, but as soon as he entered the RCB team, he ensured that the tag of being an underperformer, he would replace it with a “finisher”. It is also true that the player had a bumpy ride battling with his form and many more things related to it but champions are the ones who overcome difficult situations in life, whatever it may be and emerge as “Heroes”; And such was the body language, Dinesh Karthik was showing during this IPL. He was fearless and played what he thought was right. Even Rahul Dravid, the current coach of the Indian team during a press conference on Tuesday stated,
“Dinesh has really been able to show great consistency for the last 2 to 3 years. He has been able to make a difference in whichever team he has played. I don’t see it any different and that’s why he has been picked. He has been picked to bat in that kind of position and see whether he can replicate those kinds of performances for India.”

We are not the first ones to notice such thing from the cricketer but in list also joins in the former Indian Chief selector, Mr. MSK Prasad who while speaking with the NDTV sports team, stated,
“It is really impressive how he performed in certain situations. I have not really seen Dinesh Karthik in this state of mind in the last one and half decade. He is in the best frame of mind so that’s a reason,”
Adding more to it, he said,
“He made his selection inevitable. Now that he is here again, he will get his opportunities, he can make an impact. Not many players are there in that particular role (finisher’s). Probably, the selectors would have felt to give him one last try, because of the form he has exhibited in the IPL,”
But now the question is whether it will really be a sign of last try mentality from the BCCI for him or he will be (Dinesh) be given more space to play as “The Finisher”.
