India qualified for the CWG-2022 semi-finals after beating the Barbados women at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Wednesday. Indian women recorded a big win by 100 runs in the first-over T20I tournament in Commonwealth Games. Jemimah Rodrigues (56 off 46 balls; 6 fours, 1 six not out), Shafali Verma (43 off 26 balls, 7 fours, 1 six), and Deepti Sharma (34 off 28 balls, 2 fours, 1 six) performed brilliantly through bat and Renuka Singh Thakur wreaked havoc on Barbados batters through the bowl in the second inning.
Thakur picked 4/10 wickets in 4 overs.
Indian women gave a target of 162/4 in 20 overs, but Barbados all batters succumbed before Thakur’s pace as she booked opener batter Deandra Dottin at 0 scores on 3rd ball of first over. Thakur’s pace continued into a rage and she picked 4/10 wickets in 4 overs. While chasing the target Barbados women scored only 62/8 as inning (20 over) finished.
Following the above great win in the group A match, India qualified semi-finals.
