The Australia cricket men’s team donated their recent Sri Lanka tour prize money to support children and families affected by Lanka’s ongoing economic crisis. The donations will go towards UNICEF Australia programs aiming to support nutrition, healthcare, safe drinking water, education, and mental health services.

Cricket Australia wrote on Twitter, Our Aussie men have donated their prize money A$45000 from the recent tour of Sri Lanka to support children and families impacted by the nation’s worst economic crisis in decades.

The donation has been led by Australia test team skipper Pat Cummins, who is also an ambassador of UNICEF Australia, and Aaron Finch, the Australian captain for ODIs and T20Is. Cricket Australia announced that a total of 45000 Australian dollars which is equal to about 25,36,294 INR will be donated by the national men’s team.

Australia visited the island nation (Sri Lanka) last June and July of this year. They played three T20I, five-matches ODI and a two matches test series against the host national team. Australia had won the T20Is by 2-1, whereas, the host team defeated Australia in ODI by 3-2 and the Test series settled 1-1 equal.
