Asia Cup 2022: Sri Lanka eliminate sloppy Bangladesh in match of fluctuating emotions

The match we are here to talk about indeed was a thriller match and you know why. It’s because we are talking about the Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh which happened recently in the Asia Cup 2022. Now why it was thrilling and exciting because the way Sri Lanka made their way in the super’s four’s spot is exciting. We’ll start from the beginning by telling you the highlights.

Bangladesh team came to bat in their first innings. And with help of their mainly three players Atif Hussain (39 off 22), Mehidy Hasan (38 off 26) and Mahmudullah (27 off 22) were able to take the score target to a massive 183 runs with the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs, which seemingly was a good total for the Bangladesh team. But the thrill of the game was yet to begin as the Bangladeshi fans with every wicket, runs made were getting berserk and overpowering when compared to the Sri Lankan fans in the crowds. The situation was becoming so worse so that the bouncers at the stadium gates had to interfere and even threatened to expel anyone who leaned dangerously close to the railing but even the bouncer management didn’t work so well and the enthusiasm was still on. The hostility between the two team players was quite evident the way they celebrated the falling of wickets and we’ll explain how.

Chamika Karunaratne leaped furiously while punching in the air in anger when he took the crucial wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim. What was then, even the Sri Lankan fans beginning to support the bowler by impersonating Rahim’s own signature Nagin dance to tease him. Secondly, Wanindu Hasaranga, displaying the hang loose style after fetching the wicket taken of Mahedi Hasan Miraz, Theekshana blew kisses after taking Shakib’s (Bangladesh captain) wicket

In the similar fashion, the Bangladesh team player and to name one in the form of EbadotHussan unfurled Sheldon Cotrell Salute after dismissing CharithAsalanka and his teammate Pathum Nissanka.

On top of all this aggression, the real song and dance started when Sri Lanka needed 12 runs of 7 balls for which the Asitha did the needful by hitting two boundaries consecutively and also running hard between the wickets for 2 additional runs bringing the target left at 1 run from 3 balls but the situation for the Bangladesh team turned upside-down when the umpire declared the bowl on which the two runs were taken, as No-ball and Sri- Lanka getting their victory.

From the dressing room, Chamika Karunaratne, displayed Nagin dance adding more to his team celebration. Things weren’t over yet, and was continued even at the post conference where both the team players berated each other in their unique way.

But the proof of the pudding here is Sri Lanka managed to eliminate sloppy Bangladesh in a match full of emotions especially in the times, when Sri Lanka as a country are going through their worst economic crisis in the world
