The Pakistan Cricket Board, on Friday, named Fakhar Zaman in the Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup 2022. The-32-year-old hard-hitting batter will take place of spinner Usman Qadir who is currently taking precautions for a thumb injury. The PCB said Fakhar would be part of the official 15-member T20 World Cup squad while Qadir, who is still under treatment, will join the squad as a reserve player soon.
The change was necessary as Usman Qadir suffered a hairline fracture in his right thumb during the T20I against England on September 25. He will not be available for selection on October 22, the PCB said in a statement.
