Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd has won the first-ever Women’s IPL Media Rights for INR 951 crores. However, the cost of women ipl 2023 is very low in comparison to Men’s IPL Media Rights figuring 48,390 crores for 2023-2027.

The BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced yesterday while writing on Twitter,

“Congratulations @viacom18 for winning the Women’s @IPL media rights. Thank you for your faith in @BCCI and @BCCIWomen. Viacom has committed INR 951 crores which means per match value of INR 7.09 crores for next 5 years (2023-27). This is massive for Women’s Cricket.”

… After pay equity, today’s bidding for media rights for Women’s IPL marks another historic mandate,” Mr. Shah added.

The first-ever women’s IPL is scheduled to start in March 2023, and there will be only five teams which will take part in the tournaments. A senior BCCI official confirmed the development last few days.

The BCCI bigwigs have told the topic and a March window has been found for the tournament after the South Africa Women’s T20 World Cup

“Yes, the Women’s IPL will start in the first week of March and we have earmarked a four-week window for the first year. The T20 World Cup in South Africa is from February 9 to 26 and immediately after that we plan to hold the WIPL,” a senior BCCI official disclosed the privy development last days.

Here, it’s pertinent to write that the BCCI had issuedan invitation to Tender (“ITT”) for Media Rights regarding the Women’s Indian Premier League Seasons 2023-2027. They also revealed the detailed bidding process with the above invitation. And, the bid process for determining the successful bidder (s) for the Media Rights was conducted on January 16, 2023.

Pursuant to the bidding process, BCCI.tv.com updated on January 16 that BCCIis pleased to announce that Viacom18 Media Private Limited is the successful bidder for the consolidated Bid for the Media Rights (i.e., Global Televisions Rights and Global Digital Rights).

Viacom18 Media Private Limited will acquire the Media Rights from WIPL Season 2023 to WIPL Season 2027 for a collective figure of INR 951 crores (i.e. INR 7.09 crores per match.)

This is subject to the execution of definitive documentation and completion of formalities as required by BCCI, and other obligations specified in the ITT being finished.

According to the BCCI.tv, Argus Partners was the legal advisor to BCCI for the full bid process.
