A fan of cricketer Virat Kohli killed his friend who was a fan of India team captain Rohit Sharma in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. The incident happened at Poyyur village in the Ariyalur district of the state. Later a day of incident, the police have arrested the 21-year-old accused on Thursday.
According to Keelaparlur police, two friends in Mallur, named P Vignesh and Dharmaraj were discussing cricket, and their favourite cricketer over drinks near SIDCO Industrial Estate on the Tuesday night. In the meanwhile, the debate got heated and Dharmaraj, the Kohli and RCB fan among the two got fired and attacked Vignesh who was the fan of India team captain Sharma. The 21-year-old continued attack with the wine bottle and later bat which lead to death of Vignesh. After a little bit moment when he out come from anger, Dharmaraj ran away from the spot of crime.
Both [Dharmaraj and Vignesh] had consumed liquor. As per the initial investigation, Vignesh was supporting Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League (IPL) while Dharmaraj was a Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB supporter), police told reporter.

During the course of their debate, Vignesh had allegedly mocked RCB and Virat Kohli. Vignesh had the habit of body shaming Dharmaraj, who was a statement. On that day he had made some remarks comparing the RCB team to the speaking difficulty of Dharmaraj. This infuriated Dharmaraj who attacked Vignesh with a bottle and later hit him with a heavy cricket bat on the hed. Dharmaraj, the accused soon fled the spot, police added in official press brief.

According to locals, Vignesh’s body was spotted the same place till next morning on Wednesday, and when workers of SIDCO back to work then they saw the body and informed police.
However, the 21-year-old accused is in police custody, and is being interrogated regarding the relevant points of the incident.
Earlier, the such incidents have been seen in Football or other sports, but it is the first time when a killing news emerged for a cricket discussion between fans of different Indian cricketers. The murder sparked social media outrage, and some fans are trolling arrest Kohli.
