Veteran India Pacer Jhulan Goswami To Retire From International Cricket After England Series

Veteran Indian Pacer Jhulan Goswami is set to take retirement from international cricket after the third ODI at Lord’s in the ahead England Tour. The match to be held on September 24. A BCCI official said thatthe third match vs England will be her last as an International.

Goswami is the highest wicket-taker in women’s internationals, with 252 wickets across formats.

The 39-year-old has not been included inthe Indian team that took part in the Commonwealth Games at Birmingham. Her last appearance in the Indian women’s team was in March againstNew Zealand. She was also not picked in the Indian team which played in Sri Lanka in the July.

Goswami, who was rested from the Indian team due to fitness, has been included in the Indian ODI squad for England tour. An official said, She was in line to tour Sri Lanka in July, but missed out due to fitness issues. She only regained full fitness in mid-July and was included in the squad for England tour following clearance from the National Cricket Academy medical staff.

The official said, The senior members of the board have decided to give her a proper farewell at Lord’s.

The Senior Selection Committee of womenrecently announced these players in the Indian squad for England tour.

Indian women will be playing three matches T20Is and three matches ODIs against the English women’s team. The T20 series will be playedbetween  September 10 to September 15, while the ODI will start on September 11 and go till September 24. The final match of the ODI series will be held at Lord’s.
