Former BCCI Secretary and veteran sports administrator Amitabh Choudhary passed away following a heart attack in the early morning on Tuesday. Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) officials confirmed his demise. Choudhary was 62 years old and he led JSCA for more than one decade. He served in BCCI as secretary. He also served Jharkhand Public Service Commission as chairman in 2020.
According to reports, Choudhary suffered a heart attack during his morning walk. He rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors announced his demise after a few initial check-ups.
Choudhary’s long-time colleague and BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary condoled and told reporters, Amitabh’s contribution to the cricket in Jharkhand was gigantic. He will be missed by JSCA forever and it will be difficult to fill his place.
I offered my condolences to his family, friends, and well-wishers, added Chaudhary.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also condoled Amitabh’s demise. Soren tweeted, I was saddened to hear death news of veteran cricket administrator. He played a huge role in promoting cricket in the state (Jharkhand) and also gave his best to Jharkhand Public Service Commission as Chairman in 2020. I offered my condolences to his family and well-wishers.

Amitabh Choudhary was instrumental in making Ranchi the headquarters of Jharkhand cricket, shifting the previous base from Jamshedpur. A world-class and renowned cricket stadium was built there under his watch and befittingly one end of the stadium was named after him.
He had served as the India team manager for several tours’ championships before the cricket administrator role. He was full of passionate about cricket.
