On Saturday, Dindigul kicked off their TNPL 2024 campaign with a solid 16-run win against Trichy Grand Cholas. After being invited to bat first, Dindigul scored 160/8 in their 20 overs on the back of Shivam Singh’s 78 off 51 balls in Ravichandran Ashwin’s captaincy. In reply, Trichy was restricted to 144/8 with Ashwin delivering a standout bowling performance with figures of 3/18 in his four overs.

On the other hand, Salem Spartans had a rough start to their campaign as they lost by four wickets to Siechem Madurai Panthers in their first match. The high-scoring match saw Shijit Chandran’s side scoring 180/7 in their 20 overs with notable contributions from R Kavin and Vishal Vaidhya making sparkling half-centuries. However, the Panthers chased down the target with three balls to spare with the help of Lokeshwar and Jagatheesan Kousik scored half-centuries before Murugan Ashwin’s cameo.

In the last season of TNPL SS Finished at 7 in the points table. Now Spartans would have hoped for a winning start to this year’s campaign. Team SS has six more games to play; they shouldn’t be too disappointed after one defeat. Meanwhile, DD, who lost in Qualifier 2 last year, will look to build on their win in the first match.
