Know more about Binny’s vision for player friendly policies

Roger Binny, the real hero of India’s first world cup in ODIs in 1983, a true All -rounder of his time is the active President of BCCI. He is a professional man and likes to live with the flow of the system and without any power-studded expectations as a senior cricketer. Binny prepares fameless work and life.

Upon becoming the President of the world’s richest cricket organization, he stepped down as KSCA President last Tuesday. He returned to Bangalore as a new BCCI Chief and answered many press people’s questions during his press conference on Thursday at Bangalore.

He shared his views in this conference for his attitude towards the latest responsibility and handling Indian players. He shared his views with his friends, fans, and reporters about the Domestic cricket challenges, reins of BCCI, and future challenges to face as a new BCCI President.

When he was asked for his first reaction upon nomination to be filled for the Presidential post. He said that he was surprised and did not expect this one. It took him a night to digest the same, that he would be the next President of BCCI. He was expecting some other post from his side.

When asked Will he be available for cricketers? He answered that

“I have never carried any weight of the World cup team 1983 performer or a test cricket. I am the same person, which I was in the past. My doors are always open for all crickets. I have helped in the past, and will help now as well.”

Roger Binny hard his thoughts about the domestic cricket. He added” I feel bad to see the status of Ranji Trophy Cricket today. We never played so many cricket on international level in our times. The yearly calendar today is full with all such events. So, obviously player’s interest has declined for playing Ranji Trophy today. We used to come back to play for our domestic teams in Ranji or our clubs or employers with great feeling of pride. We used to give our best company to the other team mates and Ranji players as a Test player those days. The real spirit of Ranji Trophy cricket has lost and we need to regain the same. Today all organizations are behind Franchisee cricket and or Internationals. In England they have around 12,000 people for County Cricket, but handful in major cities. We cannot change the format, but can make it more interesting. We must focus more on our domestic cricket tournaments like Duleep Trophy and Irani cup, also. In today’s era of T20, it’s administrator’s and cricketers’ responsibilities to keep live the Red-ball cricket with full spirit and interest.”

When asked that, did you have any reservations about taking the role? Mr. Binny answered “Not at all. I have been given many crickets related roles and responsibilities from more than last 5 decades. I Like challenges and going to give fair justice to this one also. I have travelled across the nation and knows our strengths and weaknesses on district level. During my term of 3 years, I would like to work with best of my ability to make things easier to work for my next successors.”

He was asked for his stand on cricketers turned coaches. He further added

“At NCA, there we have lots of coaches upon structured training by NCA.But do not have enough jobs for all. In Karnataka, we have developed the system of a coach and a trainer for each team on League level to school team level. It will shape up well if we do it on country level.”

On the question of how much difference a cricketer can make in management? He replied” Upto a great extent. I came into administration as a managing committee member in KSCA.I learned lot in that role, felt that a lot of things can be done on district level cricket. Now from last two decades, we have implemented a player friendly policy. Any player who has played a Ranji Match is getting a pension.”
