The newly elected President of BCCI and former Indian Cricket Roger Binny raise his serious concern about the Indian player’s meeting with frequent injuries in a shorter span. He is keen to find out the root causes of the same. He raised this issue during his first media meeting as a new President of BCCI.

The Indian side is facing troubles with the injuries of their main pace bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar just ahead of the T20 World cup.

Being a fast bowler and served in many matches for the country in the past, Roger Binny knows the body structure of the seamer and how to be safe from frequent injuries.

We are facing the injury of Jasprit Bumrah, and due to this our T20World cup plan has failed terribly. We need to discuss the injuries of our players, especially fast bowlers. We will look for improvement and see to it that injuries of players will be reduced. We need to sit to think about the root causes of this issue. We have the best breed of Physiotherapists, Trainers, Coaches, and other support staff, still why we are facing this issue with our players?

Roger Binny

He expressed his thoughts immediately after the 91st Annual General Meeting of the BCCI, held in a five-star hotel in Mumbai on 18th October 2022, Tuesday.

Roger Binny had successful records with him while playing for the Indian side as an all-rounder with his variable pace bowling. He was part of the first historical ODI World cup team of India in 1983. He has played 27 tests and has taken 47 wickets with 830 runs and played 72 ODIs for India with 77 wickets and 629 runs. Binny is 67 years old and is the highest wicket-taker for the 1983 ODI World cup. He is a former national selector and ex-coach of the Bengal team and the coach of the winning U19 World cup team in 2000.

Also, Former India Coach Ravi Shastri expressed his deep concern about this issue.

Bumrah played on 5 matches from the last world cup but met up with an injury, and Deepak Chahar has hardly played any matches and was injured. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the key player of the Indian side was injured during 2 tours of England as well as New Zealand and lost a great opportunity o bag plenty of wickets on those grounds due to his injury. Shastri Quoted on this issue.
