For the first time, the Thailand Women’s Cricket team has entered the Semi Finals, in the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 besides veterans like Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India. Sadly, the defending champions and host nation team, Bangladesh, could enter the semi-finals as the times weren’t compassionate towards them.
Here’s why Bangladesh was washed out from the race and Thailand Women joined India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka for semi-finals-
During the league game sessions, Bangladesh Women won only two out of six games whereas NaruemosChaiwailed Thailand to win three matches in the same session. The minnows’ women’s team defeated UAE, Malaysia, and one of the strongest teams Pakistan Women. Thailand defeated Pakistan by four wickets to finish their six points.
The turning point of Thailand’s team came when they defeated the Pakistan team and took the cricketing world by surprise. Another surprise came when the same Thailand team defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) team by 19 runs, the third victory that they registered was against Malaysia.
The three wins that the Thailand team registered in row stood out to be the turning point but the series was brought to a halt when they faced India. Fortunately, in the match against UAE, Bangladesh did not get the desired results due to which the Thailand team waiting for their chance came floating for the Semi-finals for the first time in International cricket history.
Now once they have reached the semi-finals, their first clash will be against India and a tight tie because if any of the teams wins this match will directly reach the grand finale.
