Senior Cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has taken a strict stand on the issue of an ugly spat between RCB batter Virat Kohli & LSG’s mentor Gautam Gambhir. According to Gavaskar putting a match fine on the two cricketers is just not enough, he further said that in order to avoid any such thing happening in the future strict action must be taken against the Cricketers.
He compared the incident with the Harbhajan-Sreesanth spat where Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth amongst thousands of spectators in IPL 2008.

Sunil told Star Sports,
“ My point is to do something that ensures these things don’t happen again if it has to you know like it happened with Harbhajan Singh & Sreesanth 10 years ago, you may have to ask them to step aside for a few matches. These steps are taken to ensure such are not repeated & the team does not get hurt.”
“What is a 100 percent match fee? What exactly is a 100 percent match fee? If it is Kohli, who is on maybe Rs 17 crore for RCB, which means Rs 17 crore for a possible 16 matches, including the semi-finals, and finals. So you are talking about a crore of rupees. Is he going to be fined Rs 1 crore and more? Well, that’s a very, very stiff fine,” said Gavaskar.
The cricket community went into a frenzy after watching two senior players getting into such a ugly spat up to an extent of an all out brawl. Incidents like these must be controlled & arguments must be resolved inside the team room, as a lot of young minds are impacted by this as these players are a role model to many.
