Unluckily Indian women missed chasing the race for the Gold medal as they lose the match by just only 9 runs against Australia, but they won millions of Indian hearts as they promised to put the Indian national flag higher in Birmingham…and they finished their promise with a Grand Silver.

We are proud of you #TeamIndia. A tight finish the end and Australia beat India by 9 runs in the final of Commonwealth games. BCCI women wrote on the official Twitter handle.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur hit a brilliant half-century 65 off 43 balls including 7 fours, and 2 sixes, but her storming performance went in vain as India failed to chase the 162-winning target. Jemimah Rodrigues scored 33 of 33 while chasing the target. On the other hand, Beth Mooney scored (61 off 41, 8 fours) and Ashleigh Gardner picked 3/16 in 3 overs from the Australian Side.

Australia women won the toss and decided to bat first. Opener Mooney (61), Captain Megh Lanning (36 off 26 balls), and all-rounder Gardner (25 off 15 balls) helped Australia as they finished their inning on 161/8 in 20 overs. Indian pacer Renuka Singh could not show her previous performance against Barbados, but she succeeds to book two Aussies (2/25 of 4 ov) in the first inning.
