Shubman Gill broke Virat Kohli’s record as the GT skipper reached yet another IPL milestone in the team’s tournament in DC.
Joining his predecessor Hardik Pandya in the special list, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill broke Virat Kohli’s record by reaching another milestone in the Indian Premier League in Match No. 40 of the wealthy. Former champions Gujarat Titans arrived in the national capital after defeating Punjab Kings in their previous outing. Succeeding Hardik as the captain of the Gujarat Titans franchise ahead of the new season, opener Gill claimed his 100th hat-trick in the IPL on Wednesday.

“We have to make it look like a good wicket first, we have bowled well in the last two games. It means a lot to me (having played 100 IPLs), I have come a long way, there is still a long way to go, but the focus is today’s game. This is cricket, there will always be ups and downs, and you want to play as you do. We’re playing from the same angle,” Gill said after the win.
Gill’s IPL journey
Released by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans signed Gill for their debut season. The Indian slugger lifted the prestigious trophy in the GT franchise in the 2022 season during their title win, Gill became the second-highest run-getter for the Gujarat title. Gill scored 483 runs in 16 matches at an average of 34.50 and a strike rate of 132.33.
Gill scored four half-centuries and made his highest score of 96 against Punjab Kings in 2022. Gill’s unbeaten knock of 45 in the final paved the way for GT to beat Rajasthan Royals in the low-scoring final of IPL 2022. Topping the batting charts for the 2023 season, Gill said his first orange cap during the last IPL. Gill starrer GT played the last time against Chennai 2023, separated by GTL as it is involved in the Ipl 2024, Gill captured the new time executive.
