Serbian Scientists Name New Species of Beetle After Novak Djokovic

Serbian Scientists have named a new species of the beetle ‘Duvalius djokovici’ after the tennis champion Novak Djokovic. According to Serbian media reports, the insect, which belongs to the Duvalius genus of ground beetles that are present in Europe, was discovered several years ago in an underground pit in western Serbia. “It is named Duvalius Djokovic,” the Tanjug news agency reported. Agency also quoted Nikola Vesovic as saying, due to its speed strength, flexibility durability and ability-the beetle is able to survive in a difficult environment.

The new species was a predator that lost its eyes living deep underground, Vesovic said.
