Rohit Sharma enters record books by becoming first skipper to win 13 consecutive T20Is

Team India won the first T20 match with 50 runs against England on Thursday. Rohit Sharma performed brilliantly, he gave India a flying start after scoring a brisk 24. Following this Rohit Sharma enters record books by becoming first skipper to win 13 consecutive T20Is.

Sharma returned to squad with the intention to compensate test series in first T20 of 3 matches series after his Covid-19 treatment. He completed his duty at Rose Bowl Ground with a roaring victory over Great England. In order to this victory India lead 1-0 in 3 T20 matches series.

The Indian Skipper was handed over the reins of team after former captain Virat Kohli stepped down from his duties after T20 World Cup in 2021.

Previously, Rohit Sharma’s run started after he led team on three times T20I, in the absence of regular skipper Kohli and was victorious in all match.

The one of all ever opener batter of Indian team, Sharma has won 10 consecutive T20Is, after taking the charge from Former Indian skipper. Sharma, the right handed opener batsman taking  his tally to 13 consecutive wins in the format, the most by any captain. Afghanistan’s Asghar Afghan is on second position with 12 consecutive wins in this format. Indian team has won 25 matches out of 29, in which Sharma has led the team.

Sharma, the Indian Skipper decided to bat first after winning the toss. India posted a target of 199 for the English Team which is also hosts. The most notable turning point came when popular Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya went into pitch for batting. Pandya scored his maiden fifty for the team.
