DC captain Rishabh Pant banned for 1 match for 3rd over-rate violation, fined 30 lakh

DC captain Rishabh Pant was given a one-match ban and a fine of INR 30 Lakh for his team’s slow pace in their match against RR. A violation of the IPL Code of Conduct took place during Match 56 of the IPL 2024 season, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on May 7, 2024.

“As per Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Delhi Capitals have filed a petition challenging the decision of the match referee. The petitioners have sent this to the BCCI Ombudsman for consideration. The ombudsman conducted a thorough investigation and declared that the decision of the match referee remains final and binding,” the BCCI said in its press release.

Pant will be absent from DC’s crucial match against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. Professionally, DC’s progress in the Indian Premier League is in jeopardy, as a win in this tournament will see them kicked out of the competition.
