Whole country congratulated her including PM Modi
The Indian Star Shuttler PV Sindhu’s Roars continued in Singapore Open Championship Women’s Singles Final. Sindhu played brilliantly and occupies ‘BWF Super 500 Title’ by taking over China’s contestant Zhi Yi Wang with 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 on Sunday. She received congratulations tweets from whole country including PM Modi. Modi said in his tweet on her winning.
It is a proud moment for the country and will also give inspiration to upcoming players.
Sindhu, The two-times Olympic medal winner won the first game of 3 against China’s Zhi Yi game with 21-9. She became dominating after the first winning, but lost the second set as Zhi Yi given her tough challenge (11-21) and took equal in second set by 1-1(21-9, 11-21).
The match went into the decider turn in 3rd round that who will win the ‘BWF Super 500 Title. In initial of the third round China’s Champion and BWF 11th ranking star Zhi performed as leading, but Sindhu bounced back beautifully from the tough ‘Do or Lose’ situation, finally she clichs her maiden Super 500 title of the year 2022. Zhi fought well till the end but Sindhu’s sudden bounce back attacking role in the final game played a crucial role in the latter’s victory as 21-15.
Earlier, Sindhu has defeated Japan’s Saena Kawakani, the BWF 38th ranking player in the semi-final of tournament with 21-15, 21-7. In the order she has taken over China’s Han Yu, the BWF 19th ranking shuttler with with 17-11, 21-11 and 21-19 in quarterfinal of tournament. She has won the entry round for quarter-final against Belgian star Lianne Tan with 21-15, 21-11.
It was like a rollercoaster of emotions, but managed to pulled through and win the championship! Thank you for all your support, it means so much to me.
