Paddy Upton joins Indian team as mental conditioning coach, will a part till T20I World Cup

The South African based professional athlete coach, Paddy Upton has come for joining hand with Indian Cricket team as mental conditioning coach. He will start working soon with the Indian team at Trinidad in Port of Spain where team is fully prepared for upcoming T20 series against West Indies. Upton has already reached Trinidad.

          Upton, the 53 year old mental conditioning expert has come for contract with BCCI after 2011 World Cup. He had shown his strength in the 10th edition of ICC men world cup as India won the trophy defeating Sri Lanka by 6 wickets. According to Board of Control for cricket in India(BCCI), Upton will part of Indian team till T20 World Cup which is scheduled to take place Australia in October this year.

“Say hello to our Mental Conditioning Coach Mr. Paddy Upton,” BCCI said in a post on its official twitter handle in the late evening on the Tuesday.

A top BCCI official told reporters,

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Indian coach proposed his name to the board and accordingly, Upton’s name has been roped to the respective support staff of the Indian team. The mental Conditioning professional will help the players in preparation for upcoming five-matches T20 series against WI.

Earlier, Upton was part of the Indian team in 2011 World Cup as he had signed a contract for three (2008-2011) years with the BCCI. He played a dual role of mental conditioning coach and strategic leadership coach.

“Excited and privileged to be back in team India, working alongside long-time colleague, friend and Head Coach Rahul Dravid,” said Upton in a twitter post. He also expressed his feelings working with Dravid as part of Rajasthan Royal team in IPL.
