World No.9 H.S. Prannoy and two-time Olympic quarter-finalist P. V. Sindhu will lead the Indian challenge at the 2023 Sudirman Cup, starting in Suzhou, China, from May 14 to 21.

The Senior National Selection Committee related to badminton has named a ‘balanced’ team. The goal of winning the first-ever medal in a mixed team championship.

The Indian men had created history last time by winning the Thomas Cup. It further followed the citation order- winning performance in the Asian Mixed Team Crowns before this time. India is in Group ‘C’ along with Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, and Australia. Its first task will be to make it to the knock-down stage. Sanjay Mishra, secretary of the Badminton Association of India, has expressed confidence that the team would win the medal.

The return of R. Satwik sairaj, who missed the Asian mixed platoon event due to injury, will bolster the men’s doubles team. Also, the trained Ashwini Ponnappa and new mate Tanisha Castro will give back- over to All England competitions Gayatri Gopichand, Treesa Jolly.

Srikanth and reigning elderly public women’s mates support Anupama Upadhyaya will be the other mates’ players.

H.S. Prannoy, Srikanth (reserve Lakshya Sen);

Men’s Doubles:

R. Satwik sairaj& Chirag Shetty; M.R. Arjun & Dhruv Kapila.

Women’s Singles:

P.V. Sindhu; Anupama Upadhyaya (reserve Aakarshi Kashyap).  

Women’s Doubles:

Gayatri Gopichand & Treesa Jolly; Ashwini Ponnappa & Tanisha Crasto. 

 Mixed doubles:

 Tanisha & Sai Pratheek.
