NEW DELHI: Two-time champions and hosts India will face archrivals Pakistan on October 15 in Ahmedabad. On Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the match schedule for the Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 in Mumbai.
India will host the ODI Cricket World Cup from October 5 to November 19.
India will open their World Cup campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8.
Defending champions England will play runners-up New Zealand in the opening match on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad will also stage the grand finale on November 19.

The tournament will have 10 teams. Each team will play the other 9 in a round-robin format. The top 4 teams will go through to the semi-finals.
India has never lost to Pakistan in an ODI World Cup.
The two semifinals will be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 15 and 16 respectively.
There will be 10 venues – Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata – hosting matches during the tournament.
Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad will host the warm-up games from September 29 to October 3.
Pakistan had earlier asked for their match against India to be shifted to Chennai, Bengaluru, or Kolkata, but it was rejected by the BCCI and ICC.
