"Next Five Years Are Scary...": Why David Warner Is Glad He Is At The "Back End" Of Career

David Warner, the Australian batsman has raised concerns of the growing cricket and has suggested the upcoming five years to be scary. Recently, after signing a 2-year deal with Sydney Thunders, speaking to media David Warner said,

The schedule looking for the next five years is scary. I am glad that I am at the back end because it’s very-very difficult. I am obviously with the family; a lot of guys have young families as well. That’s going to be difficult… It’s very difficult at this level to try and compete (in) 80-90 games a year… That’s a lot of cricket,

For all your information, Warner would be returning back to the Big Bash League after nine years. Actually, as per the news in the ESPN Cric info, Warner requested to play in the in the UAE over the Big Bash League, which eventually started a series of actions, such as mentioned, Warner returning to the club and assured his availability for regular 5 seasons which would be just after the test match against South Africa in January next year (2023). On the occasion of such a big and hectic event, he said,

I care deeply about the game, and I am conscious that the conditions that I enjoy as a professional cricketer have largely come from other senior players who have come before me,

He added,

That is how the game is structured and I understand that my contribution to the future of the BBL will hopefully benefit the next generation of players long after I am retired.

Now coming back to the point as referred to in the headline of this article, the growing popularity of cricket has indeed put a lot of pressure on the young cricketers as well as the veterans. To justify our saying, recently, English Ben Stokes took retirement from One Day International formats stating the schedule as “Unsustainable” whereas on the other end another player, this time from New Zealand, Trent Boult opting out of New Zealand’s central contract has buzzed alarms in the cricket world, indirectly explaining something is not right and need to be rectified.
