World Cup T20: Australia’s Marcus Stoinis beats Afghanistan batsman Mohammed Nabi to become the new No. 1 in the ICC T20I rankings. Stoinis capped off his impressive performance for Australia in the T20 World Cup. Australian pacer Marcus Stoinis has ascended to the number 1 spot in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, thanks to his impressive form in the ongoing T20 World Cup. His performance has propelled him past Afghanistan’s all-rounder Mohammed Nabi. In the updated ICC rankings, Stoinis holds the top position with a score of 231, followed by Sri Lanka captain Wanindu Hasaranga in second place, and Bangladesh star Shakib Al Hassan in third. Stoinis was an integral and often integral part of Australia’s T20 World Cup campaign, where his bowling and bowling skills contributed to a flawless qualification for the tournament’s Super 8s.

Stoinis, 34, has been impressive in both batting and bowling for Australia so far in the T20 World Cup. Notably, his most recent success came during an impressive 2/9 for the team in a win when they defeated Namibia on June 12. Regularly ranked fifth in the Australian batting order, Stoinis has already scored 156 runs in his three innings with the bat. Stoinis has been in good form with the bat since his stint in IPL 2024 with LSG, which saw him score a total of 388 runs in 14 matches, including a brilliant 124 off 63 balls against reigning CSK Chepauk. Apart from his dazzling talent in Oman, Stoinis was even more brilliant in their thrilling final match of the group against Scotland, where he scored a blistering 59 in just 29 balls.

With full strength, Australia have confidently qualified for the Super 8s of the World Cup, where they will be hoping for a performance like this from Stoinis. The Mitchell Marsh-led team will host their first Super 9 match against Bangladesh on June 21.
