Commonwealth Games champion Laksha Sen climbed two spots on Tuesday to career No. 6 in the BWF World’s latest Rankings. The 21-year-old from Almora has been in sensational form this season, scoring 76,424 points in 25 tournaments.
Newly crowned French Open champion Satwik Sairaj his Rankireddi and Chirag Shetty also moved up the order, returning to his career-best seventh place in men’s doubles. The Indian duo won his two BWF World Tour titles in the Indian Open Super 500 and French Open Super 750, won gold in his games in Birmingham, and won his first-ever bronze at the World Championships. They also played a key role in India winning the Thomas Cup. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand’s women’s doubles and Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto’s mixed doubles also climbed to career highs of 23 and 28 respectively. There are currently two positions. PV Sindhu, an Olympic medallist indoubles has also moved up the rankings to fifth in the world, although an ankle injury has prevented her from competing in the tournament since her Olympics in Birmingham.
Kidambi Srikanth and H S Prannoy remained world-ranked 11 and 12.
