The Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan-led Knight Riders Group, owners of two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) are reportedly eager to obtain a franchise team for Women’s IPL, which will be held in 2023.

According to a sports website report, the franchise is likely to be Kolkata city based. A Source told on Friday, “Knight Riders Group owners elaborated their plans before Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)’s officials and they agreed for all necessary support.”

“As far as I know, they (KKR franchise for men’s IPL owners) are excited about buying the KKR franchise for the women’s version of IPL and working together with the CAB to train and pick players. The group is insisting on CAB officials follow the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) which is scheduled to start on the 31st of this month. The WCPL will be a good rehearsal for them,” added the source. But, the group has not officially confirmed the development yet.

Earlier, a couple of months ago, the Knight Riders Group announced their first-ever women’s team, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) Women, which will be seen in the WCPL.
