Indian men’s and women’s teams ranked 2nd in FIH Hockey 5s ranking

Both the Indian men’s and women’s teams are ranked second in the first 5-a-side hockey rankings released by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) recently.

The Indian men’s team is in second place with Oman and Malaysia, after scoring 1400 in third place. After winning the Asian Championship, India finished fifth in the World Cup in Muscat from January 28-31.

On the other hand, Oman won the bronze medal in front of their home crowd in their first-ever World Cup. Malaysia’s World Cup qualifiers have improved from their fourth-placed finish in the Asian Games.

The Netherlands (1,750 points) led the pack after winning their first World Cup after winning a European Championship. Poland (1,350) and Egypt (1,350) are tied for fifth place in the world rankings. Poland narrowly won the bronze medal at the World Cup, while Egypt finished sixth. Next Trinidad and Tobago (1,200) and Kenya (1,200), tied for seventh in the world ranking.

Pakistan (1150) found themselves in ninth place. After winning the Challenger Trophy and World Cup, and Australia (1100) rounded out the top 10. The Netherlands also took the top spot in the women’s category with their gold medals at the World Cup and European Championships, which brought them 1750 points.
