India vs South Africa: T20 series ends 2-2 after washout

The fifth T20I between Ind vs. SA was washed out on Sunday evening in the five-match T20I series ended in a 2-2 stalemate. The locking horns between the two came to stand still while it saw heavy rain take the center stage as only 21 legal deliveries were bowled in the entire course of the match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The umpires then decided to call off the match as the rain only got heavier in the due course.

  • With finish of 3.3 the entire match as the fifth T20I was called off due to rain
  • The KSCA have now decided to refund the tickets for 50% amount as a norm
  • As a result of the wash out, India and South Africa T20I series ended in stalemate of 2-2

Rishabh Pant loses fifth toss in a row as match ends in washout

Rishabh Pant on Sunday had a rather unfortunate day as he lost a fifth toss in a series. Initially he had lost the toss in all the previous four matches but this time it was the rain god who played the bigger role. India was put into bat at the start by stand-in skipper of South Africa Keshav Maharaj. Temba Bavuma was the missing link for the visitors.

After the score was 28/2 in 3.3 overs the match was officially called off as there was no scope for match to restart at 10:02 which was the cut off time for the match. Both the captains were then seen sharing the cup at the end of the match with Bhuvneshwar Kumar being named the ‘Player of the Series’. This comes as a welcome addition for him as he targets a place in the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Series ends in 2-2 deadlock

Earlier the Proteas had won the first two T20Is in Delhi and Cuttack with convincing fashion as they needed only a win in the next two matches. However, that wasn’t the case as Rishabh Pants men bounced back to make sure they were back in the series. India won the Vizag T20I followed by a win in the fourth T20I in Rajkot.

With momentum on the side India was the hot favorite going into the Bangalore T20I but rain played its part as the match was abandoned and the series ended in 2-2. This also means that India still haven’t won a T20I series against the Proteas on home turf as the wait continues.
