This was the 1st FIFA ranking of the year, the last being on December 22nd. India is now following New Zealand and Kenya is following India. India’s men’s soccer team climbed five places in the FIFA Ranking to 101 on Thursday, building on victories over Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan in the recent tri-national tournament. 1-0 and 2-0 victories against Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan respectively in Imphal. In the last month saw India gain 8.57 Elo points and five spots, up from 106th place in the top 100.This was the first ranking of the year, the last was on December 22nd.

With a total of 1200.66 points, Igor Stimac’s team ranks 19th out of 46 Asian nations. India’s best score was 94, obtained in 1996.The country had rarely made it out of the top 100.World champions Argentina moved up one spot to the top of the list, followed by France, Brazil, Belgium, England, the Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Portugal and Spain in the top 10. Japan is the highest-ranked team among Asian countries.
