In the Women’s Asia Cup, the women’s Indian team managed to enter the Asia Cup final by defeating the young budding Thailand by 74 runs. After winning the toss, Thailand team decided to bowl first, letting the Indian team set the target.

At the opener’s end was Smiriti Mandana (13 off 14 balls) and Shefali Varma with strike rates of 122.23 and 134.7 respectively. During the first three overs, there came chances for the Thailand team to grab two wickets, one in the form of a catch and second in form of a run out but was missed unfortunately.

But after Smrit losing her wicket at 13 runs off 14 balls, it was Jemimah Rodigues and the captain Harmanpreet Kaur who gave some foundation to the team by scoring runs 36 and 27, respectively.

But at the end, the entire team made 148 runs with the loss of 6 wickets.

Coming to bat in the second innings, came in the Thailand team with its two opener Naruemol Chaiwai and Nattaya Boochatham who scored 21 runs each and rest all the teammates were not even as good as the above two.

Interesting part was, like Thailand team dropped a catch in the initial first overs, similarly and surprisingly it was Shefali Varma doing the same sort of blunder from the Indian side by dropping the catch of Nannapat when she was at 5 off 8.

It was a shocker to all, per say, especially Deepti Sharma.

The only thing that happened good from the Thailand side was the bowling from SornnarinTippoch, who grabbed 3-wickets giving 24 runs.

Unfortunately, the entire Thailand team was summarized at a small score of 74 with the loss of 9 wickets and shattering their dream of winning the Asia Cup.

Reaching in the semi-finals itself for a team like Thailand is an achievement and whatever mistake they made in this part of the tournament, they might not repeat it in the coming future, bouncing back stronger.

Now in the finals, it will be India and Sri Lanka facing each other.
